A Stroll in the Gardens

The Denver Botanic Gardens had a FREE Day for folks 50 and older yesterday, so we took advantage of the lovely weather and the beautiful "park". Once you get through the entry gate, a volunteer offers you a map. This is highly recommended. The Gardens are located on 24 acres and you can very easily get yourself lost!

We were interested in flowers, shubbery and landscaping ideas that we could use in our front and back yards. Of course we were also admiring anything that was pretty! We were very surprised to find a flowering plant with the name "Foerster's Blue". Imagine that. Even spelled right!

We walked around for nearly 2 hours and only covered about half the sights. I would recommend bringing a picnic lunch, or stopping at one of the cafes for lunch. Oh, and don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and a hat! There are plenty of places to sit and rest, which we did a few times!

The Denver Botanic Gardens are located at 1007 York Street, Denver, CO 80206. For general information, please call 720.865.3500.

Beautiful, Donna. I bet there are some people who are not even aware of these gardens. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

I've only been there one or two other times and my husband has never been there! He's lived here for 25 years! I'm sure there are folks that may not know it's there.

Donna,  Now you need to get some of those flowering plants ... "Foerster's Blue" for your garden.  I love being with nature ... in gardens that are so peaceful.

It's very peaceful. There were a lot of photographers and artists throughout. We even came across someone sitting me a pond reading.

Rich and I had enough after 2 hours. It's a LOT of walking, even if you take breaks!

Great photos.  Glad you got to tiptoe thru the tulips for free today.  I couldn't resist.  Okay maybe just one more.  Hey Yogi, we forgot the picanick basket.

Even though it started to get a bit busier when we were leaving, most folks were very quiet and it didn't feel crowded.
