A Stroll in the Gardens
The Denver Botanic Gardens had a FREE Day for folks 50 and older yesterday, so we took advantage of the lovely weather and the beautiful "park". Once you get through the entry gate, a volunteer offers you a map. This is highly recommended. The Gardens are located on 24 acres and you can very easily get yourself lost!
We were interested in flowers, shubbery and landscaping ideas that we could use in our front and back yards. Of course we were also admiring anything that was pretty! We were very surprised to find a flowering plant with the name "Foerster's Blue". Imagine that. Even spelled right!
We walked around for nearly 2 hours and only covered about half the sights. I would recommend bringing a picnic lunch, or stopping at one of the cafes for lunch. Oh, and don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and a hat! There are plenty of places to sit and rest, which we did a few times!
The Denver Botanic Gardens are located at 1007 York Street, Denver, CO 80206. For general information, please call 720.865.3500.
