Best Place to Live in America - Apex NC

Apex NC is located approximately 20 minutes from Downtown Raleigh. It is located in Wake County and is part of the Metro Raleigh or Triangle Area.

In the mid to late 1800's Apex started as a railroad town. Evidence of the old station is found in the Downtown Apex NC area. The Apex Chamber of Commerce is held at the old train station and freight trains still run through the town. The heart of the downtown area is primarily comprised of remodeled and renovated buildings that are the original town. The town has fused modern buildings and technology with the old or vintage town.

Many know Apex to be the "Peak of Good Living" yet they may not know why. When the town was built, it was the highest point on the Chatham Railroad running between Richmond, VA and Jacksonville, FL. The town has a rich history of tobacco farming. Now we think of Apex as "The Peak of Good Living" because of all it has to offer. Apex has truly lived up to it's name!

The town of Apex is very quaint. Older buildings have turned into boutique shops, restaurants, and offices. There is a new police department and town hall. The fire station sits in downtown on Salem Street. One thing Apex is well known for is closing down the street for it's many festivals held in downtown Apex. People from all over the Triangle are making their way to the great festivals in Downtown Apex. One of my personal long time favorites is the Old Fashioned 4th of July Festival. This is one we took our kids to when they were small. The annual Christmas Parade is a favorite too! Apex is constantly receiving tons of accolades.

Apex has become a melting pot of sorts drawing people in from all over the country and world. It's a thrill when I meet people who grew up in Apex. I love hearing their stories of the early days. I've met many people who graduated from Apex High School. It's interesting to hear about where they lived and who they knew. Some welcome the changes to Apex and others wish it were still small. Either way, newcomers are welcome to the quaint small town.

What's really cool is Apex has built a town around the town. The Apex Peakway is a circular road the goes around the town to ease traffic. The Villages of Apex is a neighborhood community that has become part of the downtown and is within walking distance. There is an incredible skate park for the kids with a board store just across at Apex Outfitters. There are many things to do for youth. Apex has invested a lot of financial resources into the town, including the development of the Apex Nature Park which has walking trails, an amphitheater, outdoor restroom facilities, and flex sports fields among other things.

Several subdivisions are coming to Apex or already started in Apex to support the ever growing community. Those include Bella Casa, Stillwater, Riley's Pond, Woodcreek, Sweetwater, McKenzie Meadows, and Arcadia Ridge among others. Older Apex neighborhoods such as Scotts Mill and Haddon Hall are still going strong!

So wether you're looking for a new place to live or looking to just have fun, Apex NC has a lot to offer!
