Why do we need to be protected?

Home Inspector with Ellis Home Inspection Services

During this home inspection the other day, I walked into the master bathroom to find a hair dryer, plugged in and sitting inside the sink. This is just one reason why we have safety devices. People not using their heads. I checked the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI's) circuits and found it working in the outlet and in the dryer itself. Still....

A rather SHOCKING discovery!  Sadly all too many people don't believe that electrocution could happen to them...until it does!

Dumb things like:

...I don't care that it is thundering & lightning, I just want to take a quick dip!...

...Don't turn off the power when you change the outlet, just cap it off, it'll be ok gggzzzzzz...

Here's one that happened in my class several years ago (I was subbing) High school boys took gum wrappers with the aluminum on them, folded it like an accordian and then bent it in a U shape and popped it into the outlet during class because they liked to hear the pop and see the flash!  Oh yes, and when I reported them to the principal, she overlooked it because their moms worked at the school.
