I have been a Palolo Valley resident for nine years of residency and counting!  This is a middle class community where we are friends with our neighbors.  Some people have lived here for decades - going back to the 1940's and 1950's when their homes were first built.  Newer residents are warmly welcomed to the neighborhood.

The house pictured above belongs to my neighbor and we have it listed for sale.  It's a classic home, built in 1954 with four bedrooms, two and a half baths.  The lot size is 5,000 square feet, standard for a Palolo Valley single family home.

Priced at $799,000, this home is priced slightly above the median home price for all of Oahu, which is $747,500 as of August 2016.  Location is important on this island.  Newer, lower priced homes are available in other neighborhoods, Ewa by Gentry for example.  Oahu is notorious for traffic and for people working in Honolulu, living near their workplace in a neighborhood such as Palolo Valley is a real time saver.  Commuting to downtown from Palolo takes perhaps 20-30 minutes, compared to west Oahu neighborhoods that may take an hour or longer each way.  One or two accidents on the freeway during rush hour can be a disaster for commuters.

Oahu's housing market has grown steadily for years and there's no end in sight!  Some people start to think about waiting out the market, however it may take years for prices to cool off and then they might not decline.  With interest rates hovering around 3.5% for 30-year mortgages, financing remains very favorable.
