What are the top 3 emotional reasons to buy a house or condo in Coralville? I had to take off my Realtor® hat for this and think really hard why I think Coralville is such a great place to live and what it is that I appreciate most about the town I live in.
Walking and Biking Trails in Coralville
Firstly, I want to say that if you like to walk, which I do, Coralville offers lots of opportunities for that. For a small town of approximately 20,000 residents we have a really good selection of parks and walking and biking trails. Not to mention, just walking around the tree lined neighborhoods is a pretty walk on its own. I'm fortunate enough to live about a five minute walk from the Brown Deer Golf Club and often I find myself walking along the Brown Deer Neighborhoods, looking at the lovely houses and enjoying the views of the golf course. I'm not a cyclist, but for cyclists out there, this is a good time to mention that Coralville is very cyclist friendly and is often picked as one of the host towns for Ragbrai, Iowa's annual biking event.
Coralville's Commitment to the Environment
For a green loving, environmentally conscious gal like myself, Coralville's efforts in finding a greener way to do things play a big part in why I like living here. All around you in Coralville you'll see examples of this. My favorite, mainly due to the major environmental achievement is the Iowa River Landing. The transformation of this former industrial area is really quite amazing. So amazing in fact that it earned Coralville the prestigious Phoenix award for reclaiming the browning area. Conveniently located right off the Coralville I-80 exit, Iowa River Landing is now home to the Marriott Hotel and Conference Centre, along with mixed facilities that include multiple businesses, restaurants and upscale condominiums. The University of Iowa Health Care Facility is also there. I could drone on about Coralville's achievements in this area, instead I'll include a link where you can read up on Coralville's achievements for yourself. Plus a link where Coralville's Mayor received an award for his efforts in water quality in Coralville. Yep. Showing my true colors here. These are the kinds of things that impress me. I care about our planet and am happy to say Coralville is doing its bit.
Small Town Community Spirit in Coralville
I like green living. I think I've made that clear in this post. On top of that I like being part of a small community that knows how to celebrate. I'm not a party animal by any stretch of the imagination, but I like the energy created by living in a town with a strong community spirit. I like to see people enjoying themselves and they do know how to do that in Coralville! The 4th of July Parade is a huge event for Coralville that gets bigger every year. And then there's FryFest that comes in a very close second. In fact as big as Football is around here, I might even consider giving it a joint 1st slot. Haydn Fry is a legend in Iowa Football and is celebrated every year before the first Football game of the season. One thing that will become apparent very quickly when you relocate to Coralville is that the Hawkeyes have an incredibly strong following. Football is King and Hawkeye Fans are very proud of their team. Not just on game day. Every day is a good day to be a Hawkeye!
Well there you have it. My list of what I like best about the town I live in on an emotional level. Coralville is a great place to live for a multiple of reasons.
