Show The Home Like You're Being Recorded, Odds Are Growing That You Are!
I am aware that some of my listings have cameras in place recording every move in the home. I'm also fairly certain that some of my other listings have cameras running in and on the property.
The advice that I gave a new agent today:
"When showing a home for sale, ALWAYS proceed as though you and your buyers are being recorded. Do not discuss whether they like the home or not, or any opinions about the home. Do not discuss pricing, offers, etc. Make sure that you point out all of the features of the home. Do a good job of showing it but wait to discuss whether they are interested in the home until you are back at the office or at least away from any possibilities of being recorded. Also remember that the sellers may be checking a recording to see if you are doing a good job of showing the home."
It is so easy to have hidden cameras in homes and on properties these days. There may be hidden cameras that look like:
- smoke detectors,
- security motion detectors,
- alarm clocks,
- flash drives,
- wireless routers,
- key chain fobs, and
- garage door openers.
- A camera could be a little round "bubble" that's attached to the TV,
- coffee pot,
- microwave, or whatever!
- It could be an ink pen laying on the desk
- a plug-in in an electrical outlet.
Let's face it, anything can be a camera recording not only video but maybe audio. Proceed as though that is the case! Always!
I actually think it's a good thing that having cameras installed in homes for sale might be the case.
We have cameras installed inside and outside of our office, and inside and outside our home. They have been very useful more than once!
What's your feeling and thoughts on cameras installed in homes for sale?
