Ever wanted to pick up a few interior design tips from an HGTV star?
You’ll be able to do just that at the 2016 Ottawa Fall Home Show, where speakers will include Toronto designer Sarah Richardson, host of several popular programs on the television network.
Painter and colour consultant Andrew Downward, who appeared regularly on HGTV’s Divine Design with designer Candice Olson, will also be among the speakers at the show offering tips and suggestions on home design.
Opening Thursday, Sept. 29 and continuing to Sunday, Oct. 2, the show will be presented at the EY Centre on Uplands Drive, near the Ottawa International Airport.
It’s a great opportunity to see displays and perhaps take home some ideas from vendors and home renovation companies who will be at the show with booths and displays, along with the guest speakers like Richardson and Downward, who will offer tips and design suggestions.
Sarah Richardson, whose popular HGTV programs have included Sarah’s House and Design Inc., will give a one-hour presentation Friday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m., offering design ideas for your next home project.
Andrew Downward, who is also a magazine columnist, will talk about paint colours, tips and techniques Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. and Oct. 2 at 11:30 a.m.
Other speakers will include Steve Barkhouse, founder of Ottawa renovation company Amsted Design Build. Barkhouse will offer tips on planning and carrying out a successful renovation project.
Cathleen van der Westhuizen, owner of Ottawa’s Gotcha Covered, will talk about trends in window covering.
Do-it-yourself expert Leigh-Ann Allaire Perreault, who loves to demonstrate how to create striking design with a modest budget, will talk about how to get inspiration from current fashion trends. And Mary Taggart, editor in chief of Ottawa at Home Magazine, will offer tips on how to personalize your space, one of the challenges we all face when we move in to a new house or apartment.

10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 1
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 2
Tickets purchased at the door are $13 general; $12 seniors and $12 youth aged 13 to 17. You can save $3 on the price of tickets by ordering your tickets from the show website in advance.
