Don’t forget the Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s 22nd Annual Art Auction will be Saturday, September 24. The Art Auction is GVT’s largest fundraiser and continues to grow every year thanks to the generosity of both artists and patrons. Donations include wall art, handcrafted jewelry and more. Proceeds from the auction help GVT in its mission to create live professional theatre. Check out my previous post on local artists donations as well as the donations below.
Woodworker Michael Cope began learning his craft in his father’s shop as a child and enjoys the work as much today as he did then. His donation, crafted from a cherry burl, is a turned wood bowl treated with a salad bowl finish and buffed with a food-safe carnauba wax to create a soft luster.
Max Hayslette is a renowned artist born in Rupert, WV. His works have been seen all over the world. For this year’s auction, he has donated an oil painting on canvas titled “Allegheny Moon”.
Several other items are up for auction, including a 102-year-old Steinway and Sons piano donated by Ann Day, Beckley, WV.
Travel packages on the auction block include five days and four nights in Las Vegas with tickets to Cirque du Soliel’s Mystere at Treasure Island Resort and three days and two nights in Boston with a lunch cruise for two on Boston Harbor.
A preview party with hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and silent auction opens at 6:00 p.m. The live auction begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets to the preview party are $12.
