Every morning I start my day with a walk around my community in Southwest Florida. The sidewalk
meanders through the community of lakes, parks and hundreds of palm trees. Along the path there are palms that stand tall and there are those planted on slopes in shade that curve themselves to reach the sun.
Those palms are of most 
interest to me because those are the ones that this quote was meant for. The palms that despite their burdens of dead fronds, heavy coconuts and shade of other larger trees, still try to move upward to survive.
Life, to me, is about that kind of perseverance. The kind that never gives up and that no matter what obstacles we face, we continue to strive forward to overcome them. The kind of self-determination that makes us survivors in whatever we are challenged or burdened with and wherever we may go. Standing tall and strong like a palm tree, that is what inspires me.
