In the past week, I needed to travel to my old home town of Chicago for a family event, and to Las Vegas for the Realtor.com Success Summit. And as much a I loved seeing my family and increasing my industry knowledge, I couldn't help but miss my home in Flagstaff, AZ.
Driving back into Flagstaff at the end of these travels, I felt a sigh of relief and a stirring of excitement. Home. And not just any home - but home in Flagstaff. I've called many towns home in my life, but none have brought me the peace and joy that living in Flagstaff brings.
And I'm not alone - Flagstaff has been noticed nationally for being one of the Happiest Cities in the US by Yahoo Finance, and is consistently named one of the best towns in America by Outdoor Magazine.
So what is it that makes Flagstaff, AZ such an amazing place to live?
1. The Beauty. At elevation 7,000 ft, there's no shortage of gorgeous natural beauty to take in. From our Ponderosa Pines, Aspen Trees, the San Francisco Peaks, and our Four Season Weather, Flagstaff is a town dedicated to the enjoyment of our natural beauty. Summer attracts people from all over the state to cool off and enjoy a slower pace of living, while winter brings up anyone missing the snow. The air is clean, the grass is green, and the mountains are inviting.
2. The Activity. To enjoy all the gorgeous nature, Flagstaff embraces outdoor sports like nowhere else. One of the top
choices for mountain biking, hiking, cycling, running, fishing in the summer, people move here just to enjoy the sports culture. Flagstaff is also home to Snowbowl, Arizona's top rated ski resort. And far beyond outdoor sports comes the laid back and eclectic vibe that comes with living in a small mountain town with a large university and many top employers. Which brings me to the best part...
3. The People. For years, Flagstaff had a reputation of being a "Hippy Town." And while it's true that
you'll find plenty of people in tie-dye and Birkenstocks, you'll find an equal number of people in business attire, trendy fashion, or just jeans and t-shirts. No one cares what "group" you belong to. The people of Flagstaff embrace your right to just be you - whatever that looks like. I've never lived in another place that embraces humankind the way the people of Flagstaff do. It's a beautiful thing, and I can't imagine anywhere else I'd rather live.
And it's true - not everyone can pack up their lives to move to Flagstaff for good. But that's probably why I work with so many vacation home owners. Flagstaff is an amazing place to own a second - or third - home. Our largest second-home population enjoy primary homes in the Valley or California, but there are people from all over the world that call Flagstaff their Home Away From Home.
But don't just take my word for it. Come visit Flagstaff and fall in love for yourself!
And when the time is right, let me help you call Flagstaff Home, too.
