First Day of Fall

Well, it's official, this morning at 7:21 am Pacific time, Fall arrived in the Greater Spokane area.  You'd think it was the changing leaf colors that made this time of year change official...

Fall Leafs

But actually, what I noticed when I took these pictures a few days ago, was that even though it was warm out still, the beach was empty!

Beach at Riley Creek

Riley Creek, is a really good "Best Kept Secret", located along US Hwy. 2 between Spokane and Sandpoint at Leclede along the Pend Oreille River / Lake Pend Oreille.  It features some really spectacular trail hiking, a great park, boat launch, rest rooms, pic-nick areas, camping spots and this beautiful beach.  About an hour and 15 minutes from Spokane. It's a great place to to take a break from the road, but also one you might want to spend the whole day at or even the night.  Pet friendly!
