Taxes are confusing but when hidden it must be stopped. For example, "your property valued at $200,000 last year is appraised at $220,000 this year and the tax rate of $0.48 per $100 valuation from last year remains the same this year. Your property tax last year would be $960 and the tax bill would be $1,056 or a difference of $96 even though the rate stayed the same." Confused??? That's why it's called The Hidden Property Tax.

This link: www.hiddenpropertytax.com contains important information. Get involved. If you're a property owner, and your taxes are high, protest your taxes and pay attention to what lawmakers are saying and doing. Is rent better than property to own? That's up to you to decide but with the cost of rent rising, how much better can your life get? Quality life matters. Budgets are a must. Discipline is a challenge. No one can avoid taxes but you can educate yourself and understand how important it is to keep property tax rates the same or slightly lower.

Some property owners never protest their taxes. They believe that if the Appraisal District appraised their property that high, the value of their home has to be higher too. But that is not true. There is a big difference in what a buyer pays and what the Appraisal District assesses the value to collect taxes. Knowledge is power. Stop Hidden property tax and get involved.

Patricia,  This is great information to get out to the public. I feel so many just pay the bill and don't question or protest the tax increase.

Great information, Patricia, to get out to the home owners in your area. It's really important for home owners to know how they can challenge taxable values on their homes.

Patricia it is good for homeowners to know the procedure to challenge property taxes in their area.  Government already takes too much from us.

George Souto - You're absolutely right! The government keeps taking as much as they can and we must stop this hidden property tax in Texas or wherever else people live.

Endre Barath, Jr. - Hmmm.... I never thought about it that way, "ego versus wallet." People who don't protest make it harder on their neighbors too.
