What did you do today? I moved the library!

About a month ago, Rich and I registered to be part of the bookworm. What's that you ask? I long line of humans (the library guestimated about 1200 people registered) to pass books from the old library to the new library (a little bit less than a mile apart).

At 10:00 am, we started passing 21 books.
Why 21? To represent the age of the old library which opened in 1995. Among the books were: Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and The Big Blue Thing on the Hill by Yuval Zommer (a children's book). How did they pick the books? They asked for suggestions from the library's patrons.

We were so excited to be part of history! We love living in Parker and this is part of our growth. Can't wait to spend some time exploring the book shelves, study rooms and multi-media. Watch for more blogging about what the new library has to offer to our community!

I am suprised City of Denver has no budget for moving. They have couriers and trucks constantly move books around.

I should have been more specific. We moved the PARKER library, not the Denver library. And it was symbolic. Most of the heavy lifting was done days before.

What a great Blog Donna Foerster - love that you and Rich helped with moving books, from and old library to a new library.  You both are definitely 'bookworms' -  how memorable is that . . .  Thank you for sharing, and I can see your excitement, in being part of history!  Nice . . .

I love this story! Great photo too!!! Kudos to you for being a part of history! You did a noble deed and it's all for the good of the community! As a kid, the Library was my favorite place to visit! Now it's Barnes & Noble!

I also really liked the comment by Ed Silva - The "Book Brigade," was very clever! It reminded me of being part of a fire brigade at camp. It was the responsibility of Staff to know what to do in case of a fire in the woods. Passing books sounds like more fun without the weight of water!
