Our president hopeful Hillary and ex-president Bill have bought the house next door to their current home in Chappaqua, New York, for $1.16 million, according to deed information on the Old House Lane home. I used to drive by on Sawmill Park Way between Mt Kisco and Pleasantville, NY. I knew there were many larger size 1 ac estates in that town. The estate is off exit 120 and King Street.
The current purchase is a 3,631 sf home bought from an architect. It is significantly smaller than the one they own since 1999, a 5,300 sf estate behind trees when she was running for NY senator.
Not sure about her motivation, but the rich and influential like privacy. Mark Zukerberg who is originally from Dubbs Ferry not far from the affluent town bought all houses around his Palo Alto home so no one can peek at his backyard and pool. Jimmy Stewart wanted to have a vegetable garden in Beverley Hills, CA. He razed his neighbor house for a garden.
This new acquisition allows visitors friendly or not to be insulated more making the Secret Service job easier. The town has voted the lane to be traffic-only meaning no parking allowed on either side. The agents now screen cars at the start of the cul de sac.
What happens if Hillary loses at presidential election? Is Donald going to say Zestimate says she paid too little? Will home value go down as a result? That is another story.
