Exciting Annual Festivals in Roseville, California

annual-festivals-in-roseville-californiaThe city of Roseville offers a lot to do for its residents. Being a medium sized urban center and the largest city in Placer County means there’s often always something going on and is a place many want to visit. Not to mention the areas outside the city proper like the Sierra Foothills are popular places to enjoy the natural beauty and physical activity. The easy winters and nice summers allow people to enjoy the outside just about year round. Northern California doesn’t always get the attention the SoCal does, and not even the attention San Francisco gets, but unlike southern California, it doesn’t get too hot and dry and has a lot more to offer families. The two biggest events in Roseville are the Placer County Fair and BerryFest, both draw huge crowds every year they are held.

Sometimes the old things become again. The Placer County Fair falls in June each year and is a big event in the Roseville and Placer County region, specifically taking place at the Placer County Fairgrounds. It’s a traditional old-school event that you would see if you went back in time to the 1960s. There’s livestock contests and pageants, live entertainment, contests for attendees, food vendors, and other goods too. Plus the traditional fair and carnival rides and games. Family fun and something for everyone is how it goes at the Placer County Fair. The Fairgrounds is located at 800 All America City Boulevard, Roseville, CA. The event takes place over four days.

Everyone likes food and who doesn’t like nice refreshing berries? On Mother’s Day weekend the annual BerryFest takes place. The festival celebrates strawberries and fun. There are strawberry foods of all kinds, including a strawberry pancake breakfast hosted by the local Boy Scout troop. There are also crafts, shopping vendors, live music, and other live performances and demonstrations. In addition to there’s petting zoos, a parade, eating contests, A Little Miss Strawberry Pageant, and more! Really, there is something for everyone here too, only it’s all strawberry themed. Moms and their families will all enjoy and find something to do on this special weekend.

Every October, Roseville celebrates German heritage with its annual Oktoberfest. Taking place at the Roseville Auto Mall, the event donates proceeds to various charities in the community. No one under 21 is permitted, as it’s an adult only event serving alcohol. Regional and local breweries are all in attendance, this includes Lagunitas Brewing Co., Auburn Alehouse, and The Monk’s Cellar. There’s also food available and live music for everyone to enjoy. Attendance includes unlimited beer tasting and a 5 oz. drinking mug. The food is sold separately from the admission ticket, but is authentic and delicious German food. The music is an authentic live German band as well.
