Don't Be Random

You've seen the bumper sticker, "practice random acts of kindness". That's great. Spreading kindness is never a bad thing. What I'm suggesting is to be "intentional" about it, not random. Make up your mind to go out and do good deeds.

All too often we get wrapped up in ourselves, what we're doing, where we're going. Slow down. Notice those around you who might be in need of a kindness. It doesn't need to be anything huge. It can be as simple as holding the door open, thanking the clerk when he/she hands you your change, giving up your seat to someone who obviously needs it more than you.

Put your phone in your pocket. Hold your head up. Put a smile on your face. Embrace the day and share a kindness. You can do it. It's not hard. I promise, you'll make a difference in someone's day and your own!

Hi Donna Foerster - make a conscious decision to be kind to others. We need more of that in everyday life!

It's the simple things that can have the biggest impact, like lending an ear to someone who is having a rough time.

Sometimes intention may feel like random in the end. Example:  I always have the intention to do good ... and do no harm.  I went to a Goodwill drop off the other day.  I arrived early. The person manning the truck was livid.  I greeted him with a Happy Good Morning and he ranted and raved about all the things that were wrong. This is not his normal truck. The person who worked yesterday did not put anything away. There is not water. There is supposed to be water. He was literally throwing boxes out of the truck as he raved on.

It was hot that day.  I went home got a six pack of Fiji water, some cups and filled a half gallon zip lock bag with ice and took it to him.  That felt random to me.  Semantics .

I love this topic, Donna. Many of us choose to be intentional in our observations and recognizing opportunities to do kind things without thought of getting something in return.  And, yet, we do get something... knowing that we made someone else's day just a little better is priceless.   Have a great day.

I've scheduled this for a re-blog on Saturday.  Wanted to do it sooner, but already have others scheduled.  Thanks Donna!

That is true, Donna. If we don't look for opportunities to do a kind deed then we will not likely find one.
