It's no wonder I went into real estate at such a young age, 24 to be precise, it's in the genes! Our Canadian family emigrated to the United States from Quebec just over 40 years ago to start a life and business building and selling houses. If I have my family history correct, it was my great uncle who started JMJ Construction in South Windsor, CT. His brother (my grandfather), my own father and his brothers worked in the construction of new homes throughout South Windsor, Ellington and neighboring towns for several decades. My other great uncle started Jacques and Sons Builders in Glastonbury. Years later my own father and his brother started Jacques Bros Construction.
Several women in my family were involved in real estate as well. Nancy Jacques worked for her father under JMJ Construction and became a Realtor in South Windsor, CT. Muriel Jacques was involved in the family business for some time, as were other great aunts who emigrated from Quebec.
While most are retired now, Nancy is still in practice as a Realtor. We catch up annually about how real estate is going in each of our states. Thus far we haven't been able to refer one another any clients. Maybe one day, NH is a beautiful place for that second home to so many residents of CT.
So when I started in real estate back 15 years ago, it was never my plan, dream or intention, but by fate I was led there and 15 years later I don't regret it. It's not a surprise if you look at my family that properties have been such a long, running theme in my life, and will continue to be!
