October 1, 2016 Bluffton, SC Oktoberfest Festival
It's always interesting to see how southerners combine their love of the south with the need to think about wearing lederhosen, 'rocking' to OOMPAH bands, and eating brats and hot dogs instead of oysters and shrimp.
Nevertheless, that's what's going to happen on
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2016
1PM - 7PM
Bluffton Village (between the Post Office and the Bluffton Library on the open space)
$5 adults, kids 12 and under free
Organized and sponsored by the Old Town Bluffton Merchants Society, this festival, now in its 12th year just seems to get bigger and bigger and better and better.
Though there are all the standard foods you'd expect; beer, brats, beer, popcorn, beer, (yes, I mentioned that several times since we now have some terrific local breweries and every year they have fabulous seasonal creations just for this festival), you'll also have shrimp, kettle corn, and I'll bet some other healthy fare from vendors from our Farmers' Market.
MUSIC! There'll be traditional German music compliments of the Rhinelanders Genuine Oompah Band and the B-town Playz from 4PM-7PM.
There is also a Classic Car Show from 1P - 3P.
TIPS TO ENJOY THIS FESTIVAL
1. Bring a chair! (and perhaps something for shade) This new venue is wide open and though we're supposed to have a cooler day (in the low 80's) it will be bright and sunny so always nice to have some cover (goes without saying to bring sunscreen).
2. Bring cash - there will be quite a few vendors and though most of the time they are able to use plastic, it's always easier if you have cash.
3. Bring water and stay hydrated - kind of relates to #1 above, and yes there is always water for sale, but if you're in the sun, drinking beer, playing frisbee, water is a very good thing.
4. Have Fun!!! goes without saying, but this festival kind of ushers in the fall event schedule for Bluffton. Enjoy the ambiance of Bluffton, meet new friends!
