Make the Leap to Leap Coffee in Carlsbad
There’s a newish (since April 2016) coffee place in town and it’s garnering a lot of attention. And for good reason!
I had a business meeting with the publisher for Carlsbad Lifestyle Magazine, and she suggested Leap Coffee. I had heard of it but hadn’t yet stopped in, so it was a great opportunity to find out what the buzz was about.
Certainly much of the buzz is the coffee – some of the best I have tasted. And they roast coffee there, too!! Now I know where I am buying my beans!
Leap Coffee has a vibe like no other coffee place I’ve seen and far from the cramped stuffiness some offer. It’s kinda minimalist industrial, with high ceilings, great light, concrete floors, comfortable seating, and some neat colorful artwork on the walls. There was a constant stream of people while we were meeting, but it never felt crowded, and it’s the sort of atmosphere that encourages you to just hang out and enjoy wonderful coffee and, I’ve been told, some really good food. That’s to check out on the next visit!
I had an opportunity to meet the mind behind Leap Coffer, owner/founder JJ Cutbirth. We didn’t have long to chat this time, but JJ brings a long-standing enthusiasm and passion for coffee to Leap Coffee, combined with his interests in culinary arts, wine, architecture and design, and a 15-year career in medical real estate development.
Intrigued? You need to check out Leap Coffee, a roastery, café, and wholesale. It’s a bit off the beaten path and not in the middle of town, or a mega strip mall. And that suits it just fine!! Who wants to be like everyone else!?
