It's not an average quiet Sunday afternoon here in my Greater Sacramento community. It's not unusual for my neighbor to fire up his Harley on weekends and let the crotch rocket rumble a few, while waking up the dead.
Add to it, the California Air Show is roaring overhead at nearby Mather Air Field. The air show was quieter yesterday, because the Blue Angels were grounded. A pilot had apparently contracted a food borne bug of some sort.
About an hour ago, I heard what I thought was motorcycle rumbles playing in harmony with Blue Angel booms. But, it was an even more welcome event than I could have imagined. It was thunder and lightening ushering in a very robust rainstorm for drought parched Sacramento County. Our very first rains of the season!
Out my window I observed neighbors sitting on lawn chairs in the doorways of opened garages. They were drinking the whole sight in! We Sacramentans are easily entertained!
I'm feeling a little giddy, and a little bit like I'm sea sick. For me, it's a sign a rainbow will be showing up in a couple hours, at about 4:00 pm.
The photos below were taken out in my backyard. My flowers and frogs are loving the precip!
