Big Bay Lighthouse and B&B, a Relaxing Stop and Worth the Trip. Big Bay Lighthouse, Marquette Co MI

Recently while checking on our Forest Inventory Project in the Huron Mountains of Upper Michigan I took a little detour to do some touristing near Big Bay.

Seeing a sign indicating “lighthouse this way”, I thought that this could be fun.

Though I am not really a big fan of lighthouses, several people that I know seem to think a lot of them so I thought that at least they would enjoy the pictures.

So hopefully my mom and my friend Sonya will read this post and enjoy these.

It was a longer drive out to the point than I expected, but is was a pleasant one with beautiful northern hardwood forests lining the route.

Big Bay Lighthouse, Marquette Co MIIt was nice to see the lighthouse being utilized as a Bed and Breakfast, though a rather quiet sleepy one.

And they welcomed tourists to feel free to walk the grounds and even partake in a tour, but yesterday was not a tour day so Jack and I took our own tour.

For such a sunny day it was amazing how dense the wall of fog was right at the edge of the water, clear as day on shore, yet pea soup a few feet from shore.Big Bay Lighthouse, Marquette Co MI

Jack enjoyed himself as he always does, sniffing everything, greeting everyone, and of course leaving a little calling card behind whenever I was not quick enough to stop him.

Enjoy the pics, and stop on out here someday if you ever find yourself in this little corner of the world.
