How To Stop Those Annoying Unwanted Marketing & Survey Calls

It seems I'm getting a lot of unwanted long distance calls. I don't recognize the number, so I let it ring and no one ever leaves a voice mail. I am on the do not call list but that doesn't seem to matter to these folks, so I've been blocking them.
If you do answer the calls, they are usually solicitors trying to sell you something. Well, Sharon has the answer for that!
Unwanted phone calls for political candidates, polls and surveys have gotten out of control. It's enough to make a person crazy.
Yes, we registered our number on the National Do Not Call Registry. But that doesn't stop political and charitable calls.
I started out politely asking to be added to their "do not call" list, which doesn't seem to make any difference.
The more frequent the calls, the more annoyed and rude I became with each one....usually just hanging up as soon as they started their pitch.
The problem is, many of the calls are repeat callers...I hang up today, they call again tomorrow.
I had a little fun with one survey call by handing the phone to my six year old grandson who answered the questions with "I don't know what you mean" and "what are you talking about?" My favorite of his replies was "I'm only six!" As fun as that call was, the grandkids are not at my home enough to be a permanent solution to this problem.
I'm very happy to report that my husband has found a more efficient way to greatly reduce these annoying calls.
I don't know why we didn't think of it sooner, because now that we know about it....it seems so obvious. Our phone provider, Metrocast, has a "call block" option.
Now, when we get one of these calls, we go online and we BLOCK that number.
Annoying solicitation calls are not limited to land lines. What about cell phones?
I have an Android phone and it's pretty easy to block calls using the Auto Reject List feature. I have no experience with iPhones.
Blocking and/or rejecting calls is not a perfect solution.
It doesn't prevent all calls from getting through.
It does prevent calls from getting through more than once and it has resulted in less calls at my house!
