My first Video Blog

Here is my first try at a Video blog.  I used a green screen and quickly figured out that I need a couple of lights just to light up the green screen.  You will see in the video that when I key out the green screen, that the images in the background are not as strong as they need to be. This is due to poor lighting. I have an open house today so my next Video Blog try won't be till tonight. This is being hosted on Google Video. I would love to hear some feedback, but please remember this is a test and I know the techincal bugs I need to iron out first (including the green screen sheet). Thanks again to the posts I read on Activerain, I get lots of great ideas from this community>.

Here is test number two with better lighting:

Looks good you might want to check out Instant Video Generator at www.instantvideogenerator.com just to get some tips on doing your green screen blogs.  However, you did a great job.

We're all quite curious about what comes next.. I assume you'll do some house tours or maybe neighborhood tours. Do you have any other ideas.. testimonials maybe?

Geordie,

I hope to use this to cover different local events and create some small pieces about my trade area.  I have a pretty good network of other business people here in Simi VAlley and Moorpark so interviews will be at the top of my list.  Right now my Video tours are pretty basic walkthroughs.  I think the Green Screen would be pretty intimidating for my clients to do a testimonial.  People get nervous.

Gerald, Irina, Joe, Dustin & Maureen: Thanks for the comments and suport!

Wow Ted, I am so impressed. I know it takes a lot of commitment and tenacity to start this type of set up and see it through. I know it's weird to talk on camera, I'm miserable at it but you know you can count on me for honest feedback. So, practice not using "UM" and SMILE. Good Luck. Looks like you already have a following. Take care, Bonnie

First of all, very nice, Ted... and of course, I have some suggestions.

Video:  Lighting looks pretty good, especially on the screen.  It's a little hot on your face; however, it seems even behind you, so I wouldn't mess with it too much.  Also, you should bleed the images (beyond the current parameters).  This may require a tighter shot of you.

Audio:  Too much "room".  Do you have a lav mic (one that you could clip on to your tie)?  I think you'll be much happier with the results (less echo).  The only issue with that is, make sure you don't move around a whole bunch.

Hope these help.  Again, very nice job!

Hi Ted,

I'm using video a lot these days too. Did you ever come up with a mic? What did you end up getting? From research I have found that I should be using a "Lav Mic" and a recording device....just don't know where and exactly what to get.
