Mud Bug Madness Returns For it's 25th Year

By
Home Inspector with EZ Rider Home Inspections LLC.

This festival occurs this May 25th - 28th, in downtown Shreveport. Most all of the locals compete to eat the most "mudbugs," which to most yankies normal people is really a crawdad. Their little nasty bodies litter the streets while roudy Cajun hicks hoot and holler and participate in such events as the crowning of King and Queen Mudbug. It is fun for all. There are three stages with live music almost all the time. There is even a kids stage, for the little ones.

I have a handle on your market!!!

I spent time at Texas A & M for graduate work and learned about a place in Bryan, Texas called Tom's and learned the art of sucking mudbugs.  Most fun I ever had was when the football team came in to eat them and it was all you could eat night (wonder why the team was there) and they brought them out in big 30 gallon buckets and we stayed for about 6 hours.  Those boys were huge and left even bigger.  Good post.

Dale - We need to get Jimmy B. to drop by and read Don't blog. I just know he will have something good to say about those Mudbugs. He is a fantastic chef and I bet he could come up with a unique way to cook up a batch. I'll try to send him over to take a look at your blog. Carl

I was there once upon a time.  I not only sucked the heads, I used the claws for beer straws.

I too am familiar with the fine dining experience that is the mudbug; it's like lobster for the more adventurous. :-)
