It is that time of year again! It is getting cooler (somewhat) outside and we are all thinking about everything pumpkin, warm comfort food, and fall festivals.
What better festival to attend than Harvest Homecoming 2016 in New Albany, IN?
Harvest Homecoming is celebrating its 44th year as one of the largest fall festivals in the area. What started out as a 3-day "Pumpkin Festival", has not transformed into a week-long, family oriented, event that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
This year the theme is Classical Harvest. You will see this theme displayed throughout all of the Harvest Homecoming festivities.

Craft & Food Booths
Ask any of the locals and they will all have different ideas of the "best dish" served at Harvest Homecoming. Some say it's the fried corn on a stick, dipped in butter with your favorite toppings. Others say it is all of the fried desserts or the apple dumplings. However, if you as The Howard Group, our favorites are the ribeye sandwiches served on a soft white bun that soaks up all of the fabulous juices from the fresh-grilled steak or the chicken-n-dumplings. These items are easy to spot among the hundreds of booths. You will notice their long lines right away. These lines are, however, totally worth it!
Keep in mind, these items are just a small handful of the options you will see at Harvest. Take a trip down and get lost in the sea of white tents offering every food imaginable as well as local crafts offered up by the vendors all throughout the weekend.
MainSource Stage
Located directly on the Ohio River, the MainSource Riverstage is the location for everything nightlife! Take a quick walk over the hill and across the railroad tracks to see who is up to the mic. You can enjoy everything from local bands to belly dancing. For the over 21 crowd, during the weekend hours, you can enjoy a few adult beverages while you enjoy the local entertainment.
So Many Contests
The list of contests available to enter during Harvest Homecoming is endless. If you have a talent, be sure to check out what is happening during the festival days. There are contests for all ages and backgrounds. You can enter as a contestant or attend the contests to view the entries. Visit the baking contest, costume contest, and the home decorating contest, just to name a few.
There are also many sports contests. You can play texas hold-em, also known as "Harvest Hold-Em' or enter your classic ride into the card show. There are also contests that the kiddos can participate in. Let them take a spin on the track for the big-wheels race or participate in the children's tractor pull!
This just goes to show that Harvest Homecoming is fun for the whole family. This is a festival that the locals look forward to every year to enjoy the food, rides, crafts and getting to enjoy it all with friends and family.
Be sure to keep an eye out for some special Howard Group members this year either working booths for their local church or just down enjoying a ribeye sandwich with their families.
