October Homework - Inspect your Weather Stripping

Check around all your exterior doors and make sure the weather stripping around the door is intact and functioning properly. It should form a tight seal between the door and the door jamb on the sides and top and along the threshold on the bottom. If you can see light or feel cool air coming into the house around the door, the weather stripping needs some attention. Check around the windows and make sure the windows all close correctly and form a tight seal with the frame when closed. For security purposes, while you are inspecting the windows, it is a good idea to make sure they all latch correctly and lock in the closed position. Keeping your home well sealed and insulated by repairing or replacing the weather stripping can save hundreds of dollars on your energy bills this fall and winter. If you need help or have any questions, please feel free to give me a call!

Hi Jeff, I think this is a valuable bit of advice. Even here in Southern California, we could benefit by following this advice. Thanks for posting it.
