Hi Tamra Lee Ulmer , Thanks for sharing your photo. We don't have them here in northern Indiana, at least what I have seen.

Well, Larry, Share some wildlife with us when you do see something. You might have species there, that we do not have here.
Good afternoon Tamra. These are wonderful birds. I was startled on a walk awhile back when one flew right passed me.

Yes, they move fast and if you don't expect it, it can be scary because of their size. I've been chased by Geese before at this Lake. That was an interesting experience . The Blue Herring's seem way more Doscile.
You captured a lovely bird in your area. Love to see them. Have a Great Day!

Thank You Jerry. You have a great day too!
Tamra - you're so cute - when I saw your post that said 'Blue Herring" I thought holy cow what kind of fish is that - anyway, now I see you mean Blue Heron and wow that's a really big one. We see them all the time here and actually at this time of year we get Wood Storks - they are even bigger - not nearly as pretty but still fun to watch them spear their food!

We get these around our area sometimes, when we lived in England I saw more of them and especially when visiting Holland, they would stand by the canals.

Wow ! That is fascinating. It's a big deal here I think, they just aren't seen that often.
We see them more frequently here, but they always get attention.
