Facebook Marketplace - New Feature
I don't know exactly when Facebook rolled out this new feature, but I just noticed it tonight. I also asked my wife Devona when she first noticed the Facebook Marketplace and she said she hadn't until I pointed it out, and she uses Facebook constantly.
I've known for awhile that people sold things on Facebook and again, my wife has even sold some things on Facebook.
Tonight I opened up my Facebook app and this is what I saw:

Notice the little market icon indicating the marketplace category? And also the "What are you selling?". And then below are the items people within 40 miles of me are selling, like the set of tires for $35 and the children's facepainting for $25, which says selling services on it is alright with Facebook as well, apparently. I do have a couple of questions about this new feature:
- Can you sell a house on it? That's an obvious question for us here on ActiveRain, right?
- Can businesses sell on it?
- Will Facebook eventually start charging a commission, like Ebay?
- Can I turn off this feature?
- How will they regulate things that could be illegal? Or will they at all?
It's about time for a Facebook feature like this, honestly. The feature makes complete sense. But how long until businesses big and small, and others try to abuse it?
