Recently, while perusing through some of the writings of Henry David Thoreau and more recently, the autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr., I began to see a real and pertinent connection between SLAVERY and ABORTION...AND...the present state of our DIVIDED Nation...!!!
Please let me explain...
SLAVERY: Once justified by our Constitution, denying African Americans PERSONHOOD, restricting and/or denying their right to vote and other inalienable rights, seriously dividing our Nation as evidenced by THE CIVIL WAR, An abomination and scar on Democracy and Humanity...!!!
ABORTION: Some say justified by our Constitution, denying conceived babies PERSONHOOD up to the moment of birth thereby denying the most basic and first and fundamental of all other rights...THE RIGHT TO LIFE...AND...I believe this is the scourge that is dividing our Nation today...!!!
When I was growing up both major parties were against abortion, then in 1973 at 30 I experienced the results of ROE v WADE, a Supreme Court Ruling allowing abortion which has resulted in the excruciating deaths of some over 55 million babies...an atrocity, not only to HUMANITY, but TO OUR CREATOR as well...AND...A permanent scar on a once Mighty, Powerful, and Godly Nation...!!!
As we can visit Gettysburg and even to this day, sense the tremendous BLOODSHED of AMERICANS either killed or wounded there on just that one battlefield, so SLAVERY’S GRANDCHILD...ABORTION...has multiplied that casualty total 10,000 fold...!!!
AND...It’s not about WOMEN’S Rights (more female babies have been aborted), it’s about EQUAL JUSTICE FOR ALL...!!! We can witness today’s divisive movements, e.g., Black Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, Planned Parenthood, ‘Occupy’, Gay Marriage, and any others that don’t promote PEACE and EQUAL JUSTICE FOR ALL...!!!
It has often been said that a SOCIETY IS JUDGED by the EXTENT TO WHICH THEY CARE FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE AMONG US, and like Henry David Thoreau and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. have said, IT’S JUST AS IMPORTANT TO FIGHT AGAINST INJUSTICE as it is to try to create a just society...!!!
