This post is a great reminder that our business is about our clients, NOT about us. To best service our clients we need to be good listeners. What's important to them? NOT what do we "think" is important! Ask questions and wait for the answers!
Monday I attended a real estate seminar and found myself acutely aware of the numerous 'Real Estate Lingo Terms' that Realtors® toss around like confetti...
We become so accustomed to our 'own terminology' that we can often carry on for hours in discussions that would require an interpreter for most Non-Realtors to begin to comprehend.
This made me think ...
I recently purchased a new vehicle. It has a lot of whistles and bells. My sales consultant was great! He was extremely knowledgeable and could have easily made my head spin spouting off the detailed specs about the in-depth technical components...But He Took The Time To Get To Know ME - and Understand What Was Important To ME ... And Explained to ME the details of the vehicle in an easy to understand manner.
Sales is All About Listening to the Client (or potential client)...
Unraveling What is Truly Important to THEM...
And Thoroughly Explaining - In A Way That Makes Sense To THEM...
Plain and Simple - Right ... ??
What we do as Real Estate Agents is like the intricate workings of the transmission and engine on my new car... It is detailed, complicated and requires ultimate precision -
We can get very 'technical' at times with our explanations and perhaps wander too deeply into the 'inner workings' and forget that our client's head is spinning...
Perhaps going Above & Beyond is built on a Plain and Simple foundation...
