In Minnesota, right now there is only one insurance company selling private policies.
For the last 5-6 years my premiums have gone up a lot.
And this year may not be any different.
The state's plan is in trouble with Premiums going up 40-50% an more.
Many people could not afford it last year and this year it is way out of reach for even more.
My agent said he can't even guess what mine will cost this coming year.

You hit the nail on the head, Bill. My premiums would have gone up from $303/month to some $960/month the first year of the so-called Affordable Care Act (what any oxymoron!). And that was with a really high deductible, which I never met. That was the first year I was happy to be "old" and eligile for Medicare.
Good morning William. Thankfully I'm on Medicare. Just don't know how this one is going to play out however, I bet it gets some revision to be affordable.
William Feela People will be better served when they come to understand that this Federal Government we have does not have their best interests in mind with nearly every piece of legislation passed.
Hi William. The system is currently broken and no one is working on fixing it.
I don't feel that it has been affordable either and I have known people that would rather go without insurance and pay the penalty because they can't afford the insurance, so for them, the act had the opposite effect that it was supposed to be having.
Just plain stupid. The Republicans and many dems said it would not work. And hillary wants to expand it...
Unfortunately, The Affordable Care Act was the best Congress could do, with so many members being obstructionist in nature. I suspect had they been able to reach across the aisle with one another, we would have received a much better program. Sadly, the health industry itself has such a heavy influence on our elected officials that burdens the Act. I am hopeful, at some point focus will be on getting costs down for care, pharmaceuticals, and other elements that are so outrageously expensive to the plan.
I know several people who have ins through where they work and they pay from $450--$575 a month for themselves
I have thought a solution would be to put everyone on Medicare. Then with the single payer system have the clout to ratchet down the cost of pharmaceuticals and provider care. It is ludicrous that Americans pay three times as much for most medicines than Canadians and many other countries do. Especially, in light of the fact that many of the pharmaceutical companies are "our" companies.
I was at a meeting tonight and talking with two people about this act.
One who has been on minimum wage jobs most of his life who is so delighted to finally have the ability to access health care.
One who makes $50K per year, who thanks to the high insurance premiums now nets about teh equivilant of minimum wage.
