Thank to our Friends, Family and Clients for all your calls and concern

WHY DO WE LOVE WHAT WE DO?

Thank you!
We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks for all the concern we received before Hurricane Matthew. We were so fortunate that Matthew missed us here in New Smyrna Beach with minor damage in most areas.  There is some devastation but all lives are accounted for in NEW SMYRNA BEACH.

Many of you called, texted, and emailed to check on us during Matthew and its aftermath. Thank you!  We at NSB HOMES base our business on relationships, so your caring thoughts meant the world to us and drove us to quickly get back to our jobs of helping our phenomenal customers.

SO, WHAT'S THE SKINNY OF THE AFTERMATH IN NEW SMYRNA BEACH?

In the wake of a monster storm such at Matthew, it would be natural for some people to reconsider or have doubts about their decision to relocate to NEW SMYRNA BEACH. Be assured, NEW SMYRNA BEACH  is still Paradise! Our fair city weathered a Category 4 with relatively minimal damage due to its location, the foresight of city planners who designed the exemplary drainage system, the quality of it buildings and codes.  Power lines, shingles, fences, pool enclosures and trees were the hardest hit.   Residents of certain zones were under mandatory evacuation, but many people safely remained in their homes, with the inconvenience of several days without power. Evacuation centers were provided in schools. One center was specifically for people with medical conditions and another was pet friendly. Throughout the ordeal, the community has banded together. Local radio stations have done an outstanding job of keeping everyone informed. Businesses, churches, and organizations have, and continue to provide assistance in the form of necessities and services.

Main roads were cleared in only one day and as of today, almost everyone has their power restored.  With a few exceptions, businesses and schools are back to a normal schedule.  The city is grinding toward an amazing recovery!

So.....WHY DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN NEW SMYRNA BEACH ?

When our TEAM OF LIFESTYLE EXPERTS ( SOME 2ND GENERATION NATIVES OF NEW SMYRNA BEACH)  were brainstorming about what makes NEW SMYRNA BEACH so appealing, the list of positives was long, but we’d like to reiterate a few:  mild winters, no state income tax, reasonable property tax, affordable housing, new construction and blossoming neighborhoods, great schools with nationally acclaimed programs, accessibility of airports, sports facilities, central location between historic St. Augustine and exciting Orlando. With Interstate 95, residents have easy access to limitless destinations.  Trails, parks, beaches, and houses of worship, art and theater… it’s all right here! NEW SMYRNA BEACH is still a quant little seaside retreat community where the quality of life is beyond compare!

Hi Donna Concannon - by the grace of God.... It was bad enough but we all know it could have been so much worse if Matthew slammed into the coast.  My heart goes out to those affected by this disaster.

Good morning Donna,
This is a wonderful post.  What a great way to deal with the skepticism that people may be feeling about the safety of your area.  Thanks so much for sharing.  Have a great week!

It's always hard to see how destructive hurricanes are and how widespread the damage. Hope recovery for everyone who suffered is reasonably quick (and dealing with those insurance companies).

Nice to see that most of the damage seemed to be only nautical and not residential.

Donna, what a juxtaposition in the 2nd half to still see sunshine and so many boats destroyed, and areas wrecked. These are massive wakeup calls to what we are doing to our environment, I believe.

I have been back a few times since the hurricane to visit family directly north of New Symrna (across the river).  It took nearly a year to get to the side streets outside city limits to clear some of the debris.  Glad to see it coming back well.

If your association wants any NAR Classes there, let me know and if it is one I am not yet certified to teach, I might get certified just for you since I need every opportunity to come back on a business expense.
