Time to Help Those Ruby Red Slippers that Dorothy Wore in the Wizard of Oz

All those who know me 'know' how close I love those Ruby Red Slippers that Dorothy wore in the Wizard of Oz that rest so sweetly for all to admire in the Dorothy's ruby red slippersSmithsonian Museum.  The Museum wants them to last the test of time so has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their preservation and housing.

For all of us who have admired them and lusted after them as little girls now have a chance to make that difference for all those in the next century and beyond.  Do your part as small as it may be to contribute to this yellow brick road of restoration.  It really is an exciting campaign to help with.

They are deteriorating due to light and humidity so preservation is the goal!

Dorothy also believed there is no place like home!  Keep her dream alive.

Ginny it would be ashamed if they were not able to preserve such an iconic symbol as those slippers.

I make the Smithsonian every may with the NAR meeting. I of course want the ruby slippers to look brand new, it was an important part of my childhood to watch The Wizard of Oz once a year.

Reminds me of the cherry red "slippers" I had way back when, but they had 4 (almost) inch heels and they were my favorite shoes of all time--and I've had plenty of shoes. Wonder if my purchase of them were inspired by Dorothy's? Or maybe little girls (and not so little ones) have just been attracted to red shoes?

Hi Ginny, so glad you were featured in Kathy Streib 's line-up-I had heard that the ruby slippers were in fact "melting" and I am so happy that these iconic pair of shoes is being watched over by the Smithsonian.
