Where to Find an Inexpensive Pumpkin for Halloween in Bristow, VA
One of my favorite seasons is fall. I love seeing pumpkins and gourds around the shops and outdoor
markets. When it comes to buying a pumpkin to carve for Halloween, where is the best place to go? Depends on what you want.
If you are just looking for a pumpkin and not an experience, I recommend heading to Wegman's in Gainesville. Don't poo-poo it as just a grocery store. They have quite a nice set up in the front of the store with many pumpkins to choose from for only $5 a piece. Pick any pumpkin, standard orange or a really funky one in a different color with bumps and all. They are all $5 per pumpkin. BJ's Wholesale Club in Gainesville has them for the same price, but for me, it's hard to pick a pumpkin out of a gigantic warehouse box.
If you are looking for more an experience for the kids, Yankey Farms in Bristow off of Vint Hill Road has a nice pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin. There is also a trackless train ride and a corn maze. The cost of the pumpkin is 59 cents per pound. The same pumpkins I bought at Wegmans for $5 a piece would go for $8-$9 at Yankey Farms. That's not including the activities.
