"Do You Have Enough Money To Become a Real Estate Professional?"
-Realty Times article
I'm not sure how it happened, but I ran across this interesting article from 2002 on Realty Times. Many people get into real estate to make some extra money or as a second or third career without understanding the expense of doing so. Real Estate is like starting any business. It takes time and money to build.
Even though this article is over a decade old, and the numbers might be somewhat different, the premise of the article remains the same.
So, if you're thinking about getting your license and selling real estate, get those rose colored glasses off, get the facts and go in with your eyes wide open. It's a fascinating, challenging, world.
There is a lot of competition and 87% of new licensees fail within the first 2 years, but the industry can always use more dedicated professionals who are prepared for the task.
Carol good to dust off old information, this one happens to be timeless, more interesting is when the market tanks and how everyone exits stage left and the professionals stay....Endre
Good morning Carol. I know I had those rose colored glasses on when I started. It didn't take me long to get the message.
Good Morning Carol - it is good to tell it like it is. That 87% do not make the committment.
Good morning Carol,
And just like politics you could tell them til you were blue and they still would not get it.
Make yourself an astonishing day.
Hello Carol
Even as old as this article is today, it holds try and being in the real estate business is not for everyone!

Good morning Endre Barath, Jr. ,
Yes, "timeless" was exactly what I was thinking about this article. There are a lot of rose colored glasses being sold out there! Have a great week-end!
Good morning James Dray ,
I think if we were all honest, we'd admit to having some shade of those rose colored glasses when we first started. Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful week-end.
Good morning Grant Schneider ,
Being your own boss sounds great but when it comes to the committment and discipline, many just don't have it do they? Have a great week-end.
Good morning Robert Vegas Bob Swetz ,
Yep... this article has stood the test of time, just like you and me! LOL Have a great week-end, Bob.
Good morning Harry F. D'Elia ,
This is a subject that will remain timeless. Thanks for reading. Have a great week-end.
Goodo morning Raymond E. Camp ,
Unfortunately, you are probably right. You can tell them upfront and they're convinced they will beat the odds... that is, until they get in the trenches and get a big expensive dose of reality. Thanks for reading. Have a great week-end.

It is getting more and more costly to get into the business. There are many things a new recruit never thinks about like higher insurance liability limits and putting money aside for taxes and investing in the future with retirement funding.
Hello Carol Williams, I am always amaze at 85 to 87% that do not make it in the business. All newbies, get a good mentor and listen to their advice!
