Unlikely Visitor Enjoying Backyard in Sandpoint Idaho

A moose is something you expect to see in the open fields or mountains. Certainly not laying in someone's backyard in Sandpoint Idaho.  Yet a moose seen inside city limits of Sandpoint Idaho happens often enough that locals are used to it.  Not that we ever become immune to the size of these beasts nor the fact they seem to have become perfectly at ease with these surroundings.  Of course with their size one can see why they would be comfortable most anywhere.

This moose seemed much more inclined to lounge and enjoy the sun and comfort of the back yard so not much in the way of video here.  Enjoy this YouTube video of another moose that came into town a while back with her two calves.  Minute and half video with amazing act by the mama moose.  Enjoy:

Good morning Mark.  It would take me quite a while to get used to a moose in my backyard.

Mooses are pretty cool characters.  I wish I could see more of them in our open areas.  We have some up in the Rockies, but nothing like you guys.

Hi Mark - Nice surprise. Rarely do we see moose on this side of the divide, but the elk are everywhere, along with mule deer, the usual varmint suspects, and the occasional bear. We even had a mountain lion and her cub walk nonchalantly through our neighborhood a couple of years ago.

Very cool video, Mark. Moose are very large animals. We have them on Grand Mesa. It was an introduction program about ten years that has been very successful. Sometimes we see them down around town, but not too often.

That would certainly stop me in my tracks if I looked out my window and saw that huge animal in my back yard.
