How to Get 5 Years of Experience in 1 Year

Real Estate Agent with Maricopa Real Estate Co BR645115000

You Need to Learn from Other's Success & Failures

When I started my real estate business, I knew early on that I would need to study what other real estate agents did and how they handled not only their business, but more importantly, how they handled the roadblocks they ran into.

I wanted to get 5 years of experience my first year. Boy did I. I studied what the best did and what the whiners did. I listened to what hiccups they had and how they handled them. I learned what to do and what not to do. When I had the same situations, pop up, I was ready.  Little did my clients know it was the first time I had encountered this problem. I could speak confidently due to having partnered with these other agents on their decision making.

I am a firm believer that we can speed up our learning curve this way.

“It’s important to learn from your mistakes, but it is better to learn from other people’s mistakes, and it is BEST to learn from other people’s successes. It accelerates your own success.” —Jim Rohn

I LOVE this Quote!  It sums up my philosophy for the past 30 years. Imagine my happiness when I found out that my personal philosophy lined up with one of the greats!

How about you? Do you live by this best practice in your business?

If interested, here is my latest podcast where I share with all local small business owners like yourselves why I feel learning from other people’s success and failures is critical to our businesses success

Keep asking, keep learning and keep kicking butt!!!

I love the quote you and Jim Rohn share - that man had wisdom beyond belief - and a voice that made me smile every time I heard it.

I think you were wise to pay attention to what the whiners did in addition to what the successful agents did. Sometimes it is valuable to know what NOT to do.

Champions learn from mentors, coaches on technique and constant improvement, so training is essential so your actions become reflexive and automatic.

There are many successful people in the AR community who share their experiences, their challenges, and solutions that many are learning about before encountering them. I'm grateful for the privilege of securing the knowledge and experience from the AR community and best of all is the training is dare I say very economical.

I like your approach to learning. Sometimes we learn by trial and error...why not learn from those that have tried and err'd.

It's aways better to learn from others' mistake, and successes, but learning how to deal with roadblocks along the way is essential - we will always have some of them in our busines. Congrats on the feature!

Beautiful advice. I did that when I started, too. The other critical key is to just get out and do. Many go broke "gettin' ready to get ready".
