The 2016 World Series will be Memorable
Baseball begins its Fall Classic tonight in Cleveland with the Indians facing the Cubs. For both teams and their cities the excitement is high as neither team has won a World Series in a very long time. For the Indians, they were baseball champion last in 1948. For the Cubs, they reigned supreme last in 1908.
Cleveland made 2 appearances in the series in 1995 and 1997 but lost both times.
The make-up of both teams have American League East teams stamped all over them. For the Cubs it starts at the time with their President of Baseball operations, Theo Epstein, who was the wonder boy when he made the Boston Red Sox champions as the youngest general manager in baseball at the time. His current team is laced with former players from Jon Lester, who will start tonight's game for the Cubs. John Lackey, another Red Sox pitchers who helped them win their last world series, catcher David Ross, flame thrower Aroldis Chapman, NYY and their manager, Joe Maddon, who lead the Tampa Bay Rays to world series appearances.
Cleveland is Managed by Theo Francona who led the Red Sox when they broke their 86 year curse in 2004. His players include former Red Sox player Mike Napoli, Andrew Miller, NYY and Coco Crisp, 2004 Red Sox.
So this year, a curse is going to be exorcized for one of the teams. For the fans in ether town, it will be memorable and for those of us that are fans of other teams. Yawn, pitchers and catchers report in early February.
