Look who showed up in our back yard this evening.  Tonight only three turkeys came for dinner but somedays we have as many as nineteen.  There are several flocks of turkeys that roam the woods in our area.

This is the first time we have seen a turkey land on top of the feeder.

I wonder if they know what holiday is coming next month.

So Mary!  Will one of these big guys wind up in your Thanksgiving roasting pan?

Oct 25, 2016 12:02 PM
Mary Yonkers

No, these guys don't have to worry.  Maybe that is why they hang out in my neighborhood.

I hope  non of these turkeys end up on your Thanksgiving table.  It would feel like a betrayal of friends - better to find some anonymous bird!

I agree Joanna Cohlan Love the term 'anonymous' bird.  I will think of that on Thanksgiving Day.

Good morning Mary.  My wife insists on turkey for the upcoming holiday, I prefer chicken, and the debate continues.

Good morning Mary. I too have the wild turkeys. They are everywhere but seldom come in my yard because of my pups, but are all over the front of my home. Ich.....

Mary Yonkers - are those turkeys still alive?  Maybe they are already in someone's freezer ready for Thanksgiving.

That's a lot of turkeys to show up for dinner in your backyard! I wonder what attracted them? And that one on top of the birdfeeder is definitely making a statement!

Did they do the Turkey Trot too???

These turkeys roam the fields & wooded areas outside the suburbs of Erie.  Thanks for stopping Patricia Feager

That turkey in the second picture was really showing off!  I live near the American River Parkway, and we have flocks of Wild Turkeys that inhabit the area.  When I ride my bike there, I often encounter them!

Myrl Jeffcoat In the past I have enjoyed reading your post about the American River Parkway. These turkeys roam our area frequently from spring through late fall.
