Trick or Treat! Here's my business card!

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Compass, formerly RE/MAX WHP 0524642

Every Halloween I cringe because I know exactly what will happen. When we go trick or treating this year we'll find ourselves in that teeth grinding situation where the homeowner (who is also a Realtor) hands out candy with their business card attached.

Handing out your business card with Halloween candy is raunchy, tacky and just foolish.

Children want candy. They don't want to be marketed to. There's nothing innovative or cute about trying to nab a client during this candy transaction.  And people wonder why their house gets eggs thrown at it. Almost as bad as handing out fruit and homemade granola. Don't do it.

And while we're at it, how about a shout-out at all those idiot mortgage brokers and home inspectors and other third party vendors who think Halloween is a good time to spam listing agents with their Happy Halloween emails?

I don't need to be reminded that it's Halloween. Around here we don't say Happy Halloween to each other like we might Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. It's not a national holiday. It's not a marketing opportunity gone to waste if not utilized. It just makes me block those morons from any future emails.
