It's October on Maui, and that means a lot of Halloween celebrations. The party in Lahaina is the biggest event at this time of year, with tens of thousands of people attending in costumes and masks. Lots of fun activities and costume contests, live music and partying.
You can sail over to Lahaina on The Pride of Maui for the festivities, and leave your car at Maalaea Harbor to avoid the traffic on the pali.
Check out the CalendarMaui.com website for some of the other Halloween events coming up this year 2016 on the island of Maui.
Some fun events on the north shore this season:
- The Haunted Haiku Hike continues this October 28th in a remote and spooky country setting, and Myths of Avalon is the theme for the kid friendly magical event on the 29th and 30th. Find them at the upper end of Awalau Road in Haiku.
- Haunted Hawaiian Nights with Lopaka Kapanui recounting ghostly tales from the past. Get your chicken skin fix at the McCoy theater at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului.
- The Aloha Classic Maui is back starting this Saturday October 31st, with competitors from around the world showing off their windsurfing chops, slashing up the waves, and battling for the prize. Take in the action at Ho'okipa Beach Park in Paia for about a week, with waves and weather permitting.
