Halloween Drivers Safety Tips
I drive on a regular basis in both Katy and Cypress TX and on a daily basis I see numerous drivers who are not driving very safely and many who are violating various laws. As Halloween is Monday October 31, 2016, I thought some driver safety tips are in order to post and to remind drivers to be safe.
Try slowing down especially in residential neighborhoods where children will be out on Halloween and will be distracted by the excitement. Children as we all know do make unpredictable moves and take quick actions.
Take the time to look for children at intersections, on curbs, on medians and in the middle of the block ready to dart out.
The usual popular Trick or Treat times are from 5:30 PM until 9:30 PM. Most neighborhoods see the bulk of these children before 8:30 PM.
All distractions inside of your car should be eliminated. Drivers need to concentrate on the road and surrounding and not on texting, cell phones, radios, tablets, etc.
Try driving slowly and turn your headlights on early before dark. Carefully watch for all pedestrians whether it be children, adults or pets.
Exit and enter driveways carefully and at a slow speed. Watch for drivers pulling out from a driveway or a parking spot.
Don’t drive anywhere unless necessary until the treat or treaters have completed their fun night.
The life you may save might be your own child, a friends or neighbors child, an adult neighbor, a neighborhood child or family pet.
These tips actually can be followed and should be observed all year long but especially on Halloween night!
