Odd Facts About Mello Roos in Elk Grove

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

The thing about doing a little research when writing my blogs is I always learn something new. I prefer to fact-check statements I make for accuracy, because many people rely on information I provide. Just because I happened to be around and working in the real estate business when certain historical events happened, for example, doesn't always mean that my recollection is 100% on target as we all tend to put our own spin on things after a number of years has passed.

Mello Roos in Sacramento and neighboring counties doesn't affect every home or every neighborhood. And homes built prior to 1982 do not generally have any Mello Roos associated with their property tax bills. You can read more and pick up 3 odd facts about Mello Roos in my personal blog today at this link: How to Quick Search Mello Roos in Elk Grove.

Well Liz, I can't agree with you more. Fact checking is so important, I do it all the time. We have to be so careful that we give out accurate information. Unlike some other people who put things into print or ... nevermind.

And you are also right, that is a strange name indeed! I found it very interesting that they can take the house so quickly for non payment of this assessment. Wow!

Part of being the most valuable local agent in Elk Grove or Sacramento is knowing the taxes that affect your home sellers and home buyers.  Clearly, anyone who finds this information useful would be wise to work with you and your team.

Andrea Swiedler Well, I would never want to be like Donald Trump, letting crap spew forth that fact checkers can tear apart when they bring up the facts. He's not embarrassed though.

Normal people like you and I would be devastated.

Chris Ann Cleland Surprisingly, not many agents understand Mello-Roos taxes. I'm thinking it's probably because as they are a new agent, this is new information to them. They didn't live through the legislation nor witness its effects much less understand why it happened or what it means.

Hi Elizabeth -- while I wasn't in real estate in 1980s, I do remember the origination of Mello-Roos.   They are not as common in Pasadena but they do exist in some of our "newer" communities.   I find I continue to learn something new everyday through my real estate research even if it's only some kind of nuance or a different way in looking at a subject.

Elizabeth: That's quite a chunk that gets added on every month. But, as you say in your personal blog, if you want to be in a neighborhood with good schools, you might have to pay for it--if the original developer didn't.
