It might seem that buying a home is scary... but NOT buying one could prove scarier. There's NO reason to let the Halloween season spook you from buying a home this fall! There are lots of myths out there about how hard and complicated it is to buy a home these days and it's time to bust many of them. As the infographic below says "buying a home can be scary... until you know the real facts!"
Here's what you should be scared about this Halloween season and beyond if you've been contemplating buying a home and have been sitting on the fence about it because you've been scared to move forward for the wrong reasons:
Home prices will continue to rise. CoreLogic's latest Home Price Index reported that home prices appreciated by 5.7% in the past year. The same report predicts prices will continue to rise at a rate of 5.3% in the coming year. The home Price Expecation's Survey's most recent report projected home values to appreciate by more than 3.5% for the next 5 years. The bottom in home prices has come and gone and home values will continue to appreciate for the forseeable future. Waiting to buy makes no sense and the cost of buying a home could be scary if you wait too long.
- Mortgage rates are projected to increase. Most experts predict that interest rates will begin to rise later this year. The Mortgage Bankers Association, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the National Association of Realtors are all projecting that rates will be up by the end of 2017. An increase in rates will increase your monthly mortgage payment and reduce your purchasing power.
