As a lifelong resident of the WestBank, I think it's very important to highlight the virtues of living. West of the Crescent City.
The WestBank offers many residents the opportunity to have that great suburban lifestyle only minutes from the heart of the New Orleans' Central Business District and the French Quarter but what many people don't know is that WestBank living can also allow you that quiet rural existence away from the hustle and bustle of the Big City, again, only minutes from Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, and every other exciting happens in the downtown area.
For example, if you have never been down Jean Lafitte Blvd., some people also know it by Highway 45, you don't know the wonderful experience you are missing. It's a different perspective on living in New Orleans, yet you are having the full on Deep South experience up close and in person.
Lots of great adventures and great food can be found down the Bayou. For example, we dined at this wonderful restaurant at the Victoria Inn and Gardens in the little town of Jean Lafitte. The service was excellent, the restaurant was beautiful, the menu was eclectic but filled with traditional New Orleans fair such as Fried Oyster Spinach Salad, BBQ Shrimp Flatbread, Soft Shell Crabs and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Now you know what I ate. My guests had equally sumptuous dinners but quite frankly I was too busy guarding my dishes to notice what they ate. You can view the menu. Everyone was well satisfied. Chef Matt Regan produces an outstanding and freshly prepared menu. I hate myself for telling everyone - I'm afraid it will be more difficult to get a reservation now. However, I will sacrifice for a bit of word of mouth marketing for such a wonderful experience.
Try The Restaurant at Victoria Inn in Lafitte and let me know what you think.
