There used to be a corn chip commercial where you would eat the chips straight out of the bag and then dip them in your tasty salsa and the manufacturer would remind you to eat up, don't worry, they'll make more. With thinking about TIME, it is humorous to think about SAVING time cause you really can't, it is a resource like the sand pouring to empty in the hourglass, that only can be spent. YOU CAN'T MAKE MORE OF TIME. Also, in your own individual life you do not know how much YOU or anyone else really has.
Productivity can be thought of as doing things easier or in parallel although multi tasking it is said is not as good as single focus. But to not WASTE our time, a purely subjective thought, cause sometimes you enjoy wasting it, perhaps think of at least THREE things you highly value, and design your day, week, year, around the planning, associating, doing with your time, in ALIGNMENT with what is valued. A great saying is we can do anything but we can't do everything. I do not know if we ever master time and it has this illusion of accelerating faster as we age, BUT ALIGNMENT with VALUE seems to be a key to having a sense of peace of mind and spirit with working with time. It is swift, we see changes in us, in others, in events, and places everyday because of time, structure your life to WORK with time, not FIGHT it!!
Also, remember that what is important on the surface never screams out as urgent to us. But often its urgency deep down is because of its importance.
