It is just about that time of year where we come home and look forward to lighting a fire in the fireplace to take the chill out of the air. Maybe you have a gas log unit and have the convenience of just flipping a switch to turn the flames on and relax in the glow of the heat. Either way, its time to clean the logs, check the gas line or inspect the chimney and flue.
This note serves as a friendly reminder that as we set our clocks back this weekend and hopefully change out the batteries of your smoke alarms..please don't overlook the importance of having a CO2 detector near the fireplace and a chimney inspection / flue inspection to be sure there is adequate ventilation.

Lastly , as an advocate for pet safety and welfare, I urge you to be responsible humans !
When you see a pet left out side in frigid temps, know they are very cold. There must be adequate housing to protect from winds and chill. Bring pets inside. Animals need proper shelter, food and medical care and love/ affection from their owners. Remember water bowls freeze. If you need to report something that concerns you start with your local police office. Most counties have an animal advocacy department that can help you quickly. Its all of our responsibility to care for the animals.
