So true, Marcell! I think my challange is having to be firm with my own clients. I don't have any trouble at all being firm with negotiations but, when they REALLY need to do something and put their foot down (that they are not going to do it), I have to 'prep' myself for that conversation. Like you, I like taking care of people with kindness and compassion so, being firm is out of my 'norm!'

Debe- thanks for your input! I appreciate it. It will certainly be a learning process and interesting to say the least!
"NO" is the operative word. When I meet and discus with a client how they are being represented, I always say that I'll do anything you ask me to as long as it's not illegal. Currently working with an out of state elderly buyer, who doesn't have email, who is under contract on a condo that up until a few days ago had not seen in person. But she finally came into town and I agreed to help her with some things that normally a client would do on their own. No problem. She signed the closing papters while she was in town but the actual closing won't happen until next week. As I was driving her to see the condo, she suddenly tells me she is going to bive me a check so I can go buy furniture for her condo. I literally laughed out loud and said absolutely not. She will need to do that herself after she comes back in a few months. If you don't set boundries, things can just get completely out of control. Wising you all the best with your business.

Thank you Sam! Bounderies is one of my challenging areas! LOL I am sure, with a little experience, I will get better.
I think being a life learner keeps you young, or at least your mind more alert. We do keep "evolving".

Patricia, I'm glad. I am a work in progress and I am happy with where I am and where I am going. :) It is always important to never stop learning and fun is paramount as well, isn't it? LOL

Knowing we are - and working on our strengths is winning more than half the battle, Marcell Loomis.
My strength - or weakness - I am too soft and still determined. If it does not work I take over it and work on it (which may not be necessary.)

Ah, you and I share similar traits! Thank you Praful, it is appreciated to know that others have similar "challenges".
I too see that my "softness" can be constued as a weakness at times, but I choose to see it as a strength. Thanks again!
Marcell Loomis Great early blog post from you, and welcome to Activerain. You will have plenty of 'Followers' very quickly!

Patricia Kennedy Thank you!
Setting expectations and boundaries are important. Many agents struggle with that at home and in their business. No amount of money can replace the time that you spend with your family. When you are with family, be there!

Karen Feltman Oh yes! Family is SO important.

It's a great feeling to discover yourself and what you stand for. Another great discovery is the word no.

Hi Marcell- Don't worry, I'm 67 and still learning about who I am. The difference is that at my age, I'm ok with my choice and worry less about what others think.
Keep learning...it keeps us young.

Even animals learn new things in their late life. I am referring to dogs in the teens and cats past 16 learning how to deal with their aging problems...

Welcome to Activerain! So glad that Pat featured this post - it really spoke to me.
I am always learning, or try to, and continue to gain a better understanding of who I am but also how I am changing as I get older. Work in progress, as they say!

Nice post, like the graphic, I think when you are unwilling to be open to learning, it is time to get in the box...

What a wonderful post. I have found, also, that we continue to evolve and learn who we really are. And aren't we a lot happier when we are true to our own needs?
Everyday I learn more about myself. That is not all bad and sometimes it surprises me

Thanks for your comment William. We are in trouble if we stop learning, aren't we?
Stagnancy is not any good for anyone. I look forward to learning more about myself in relation to my new career. So far it has been eye opening!
