Nottoway Plantation White Castle Louisiana
was the perfect weekend getaway for me in early September. Nottoway is the South's largest Antebellum Mansion on the Mississippi River.
Nottoway Plantation and Resort was stunning, on a Louisiana Saturday night!
Nottoway Plantation is located on the River Road, and that is where this photo was taken. It was just at dusk on a warm September evening, with thunderstorms building from the heat of the day. We walked halfway up the Mississippi River levee and snapped the picture.
Even though I live in Branson MO now, I'm a Cajun girl, born on the Bayou and LSU Tiger to my purple and gold core! We needed a short getaway weekend, in between 2 training sessions with Keller Williams in Austin, Texas.
Baton Rouge was reeling from the massive flooding, and no motels rooms were available. A suggestion to stay at Nottoway was an alternative , and it became the most enjoyable weekend ever!
Nottoway has these beautiful cajun cottages on the grounds that rival any 4 star hotel, but not the price of one. The restaurant is located on the lower level of the plantation and served the most incredible food. My husband got his Cajun Food fix for sure!
Nottoway is also an event destination for weddings and family gatherings. There are bikes to rent, to ride on the Mississippi River levee.
The grounds were spectacular and I found a bench under a 200 year live oak to just relax and enjoy the beauty of this sugar cane plantation and home. There was a pool, spa and other activities at the plantation.
Hope you enjoy the photo as much as I enjoyed being there!
