Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week it falls. I support preserving the historical significance of the date and focus our attention on the celebration of honoring American’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country and sacrifice for the common good!

In Austin we celebrate with a parade that begins Friday November 2016 on Congress Avenue at 9:30 am. Let’s hope for clear skies!

Thanks for this touching post to honor our vets. Our nephew was honored as a Hometown Hero yesterday in Laurel, Maryland. He was killed in Afghanistan four years ago. We all miss him, but realize he died doing what he believed in most - protecting his country.
